Pre-Production

So far I have found myself doing a lot of pre-production work and its turning out to be pretty helpful. Story boarding and shot lists are essential, but even more im learning so much through them. I mean think about, with these two techniques you are pretty much laying out your plan for the production stage. And you really have to know exactly what equipment, what lighting, what kind of lights, what angles, what focus points. . .ect. you are going to use. I think overall these two techniques will really help me to eventually be a better director who has a clear focused vision that is easy for everyone to understand.

    Hi, My name is Colleen Rowley and right now my full time position in life is being an intern for a company called Funnelbox motion pictures located in Oregon City, Or. I'm attempting an alternative to formal schooling for film, or really you could say getting back the olden ways of trade school learning. I've gone through a company called FIlm Connections who sets you up with a company in your area who takes you on as an intern, or something along those lines. The whole point is that from hands on learning, a mentor, and a book here and there, you should be able to just about skip school. If you have hands on training and experience then people know you can do what you say you can. Unlike in school where the most that they can be certain about is that you know about everything, but it doesnt mean that you will actually be able to do those tasks. I've signed up for the directing program through Film Connections so my future goal is to hopefully be a director, but I know that is going to be a long path. In the mean time I am interning, studying, and looking for anyway to decorate or add to my path on this journey. This Blog is about what happens. . . . .

The Beginning

This week has been intense, but productive. I have worked my way into interning every day this week, and because of it I have completely broken into a whole new field of interning. Now, not only am I doing useful but trivial tasks for the company but im also sitting in and joining in useful projects. I think being at the company you are interning at as much as possible is key. Im completely involved in all the projects, or atleast knowledgeable about them, and this makes its easy to communicate and stay useful to the employs. Through this I have also joined the group setting and have become a part of the "team" you could say. When your there day after day you become one of them, not just this kid that pops in and out and never really knows what is going on. But I must admit its tough on your finances, going and working for a place everyday for free does not pay for anything but knowledge.
